The Foundations Program education framework focuses on employability skills in balance with fundamental technical skills preparation. This focus is to help the intake develop positive habits and morals that will give them the best opportunity to be successful in the workplace, not only for the company, but also for them on a personal level.

Employability skills are the key personal attributes you need to enter, operate and thrive in the world of fulltime work. These are the transferable skills that we take with us from one work situation to another.

Our employability skills framework includes what our company thinks makes a good employee, and the personal attributes that contribute to overall employability are:

Loyalty * Commitment * Honesty and integrity * Reliability * Enthusiasm * Personal presentation * Common sense * Sense of humour * Motivation * Adaptability * Customer First focus

Key skill units the intake work through actively in year one are:

  • Safety
  • Communication
  • Team Work
  • Problem Solving
  • Initiative and Enterprise
  • Planning and Organising
  • Self-Management
  • Language Literacy Numeracy
  • Technical Knowledge
  • Customer First

Asco Academy Foundations Program

Asco Motors Fiji has started to look into getting more female apprentices in both service and panel. We are currently liaising with Fiji National University to get potential candidates for these roles. Currently we have shortlisted 3 three students and have conducted interviews for one of them.

This is being done to bring about gender equality in our workforce. Diversity and inclusion is top priority and to falsify the statement that technical jobs are for men, we would love to see the female talents on top of our list. We have females in service administration roles/service advisors, who have had technical experience from the workshop. We would like to see more females as senior technicians i...
